Despite finding ourselves in the middle of April, we continue to experience High temperatures in the 30s, and lots of precipitation as well. Snow covered the outdoor courts at K-O this morning when we arrived, but fortunately we could stage our match indoors on the four very nice courts the school has in their nifty athletic center. To keep to a time limit, all matches were played with No Ad scoring like our FAA league competitions. Doubles began promptly at noon and all matches were exciting. Bryan and Jacob were neck and neck with their opponents throughout, trading volleys, lobs and overheads with each other. Debut pairing Max and Jake showed great teamwork and expert control of the net. Lucas and Karun's match was fairly close until this dynamic duo figured out the winning strategy to break away with their match.

Singles followed quickly after, with Lines 1, 4, 5 and 6 taking to the courts first. Jacob quickly took the first set and never relinquished it. His play was masterful. Jake rounded out a great weekend for himself with a definitive victory, too. Max was able to keep ahead of a tough lefty opponent who ran down many short balls, lobs and overheads. It was fun to watch this contest. Lucas had a shaky start, but his shots started to find the court in the second set, and he tried a new strategy that got him back from a 5-1 deficit in the second set to claim it 7-5. After that Lucas never took his foot off the pedal to get the tiebreaker 10-6. Karun and Bryan's matches were shortened to six-game sets, and only Karun was able to finish his before time was called. Both were playing at a high level.

All in all a good Saturday match. Hopkins is improving in form with each match. We hope to see you on Tuesday, when we take on longstanding rival Brunswick at home.

YEAH HOP!!
