Hopkins finish strong at Williston

L Court
Hopkins traveled up to The Williston Northampton School to play the Quarter Final of the New England Championships.

It was a good day for Field Hockey with light winds and temperatures in the high 40s. We traveled very well and started off with all the possession and the higher tempo.  Williston raised their game slowly, and after 8 minutes we conceded a goal to go 1 down.

We responded well, but Williston scored twice quickly, and with 25 minutes to go we were 3 to 0 down.  We stuck to the task, and Libby Gardner capitalized on a loose ball at the far post to make the score 3 to 1. Williston scored again, but we quickly replied and the score was 4 to 2.  In the last 12 minutes we missed a stroke and hit the post, denying us a chance of two possible goals as the clock ran out.

Ultimately we lost to a better team, but we pushed them right to the limits for the full 60 minutes. We left feeling sad that the season was over, but feeling satisfied that we had done all we could on the field.

We end the season 13 and 3: an historic season for Varsity Field Hockey.  This has been an amazing 3 months for our team and we look forward to next season with 17 returning players on our final roster.
