Boys Tennis Toppled by Taft in Season Finale

From Coach William Ewen:

On Wednesday, May 19th, the Hopkins boys' tennis team faced a Taft team with a 10--1 incoming record which was described by coach Peter Frew as "our best team in 20 years". Despite a gallant uphill fight by the Hopkins Hilltoppers, only #3 singles player Phil Bernasek was able to cap a perfect 14--0 season singles record with a 6--4, 6--0 victory against his Taft opponent this afternoon. The final 6--1 Taft victory did not reflect the sustained strong fighting spirit of the Hopkins team, who finished the 2004 season with an outstanding 12--2 dual meet record, making this team the winningest team in Hopkins boys' tennis history. The Hopkins Sports Awards Ceremony and the individual New England Prep School Invitational Tennis Tournament held at Choate conclude the Hopkins spring tennis season this Friday night and Saturday respectively.
