Hopkins Looms Large vs. Loomis Chaffee

From Coach William Ewen:

On Wednesday, May 12, Hopkins had to overcome stifling 90 degree heat and a determined Loomis--Chaffee tennis squad at the Loomis courts in order to be able to forge out a come from behind 5--2 victory. The match began with Loomis taking an early lead by winning two of the three doubles contests, as Hopkins was unable to hold on to early leads. Though depleted of a lot of energy by the conclusion of those matches, the Hopkins team showed its resilient character by coming out swinging in the singles contests. From #2 through #6 singles, players Lenny Kolstad, Phil Bernasek, Adam Sauerteig, David Zackheim, and Dan Spinelli came through with hard fought and well earned straight set victories. This victory gives the Hopkins boys varsity tennis team an impressive 11--1 record to date. Next on Hopkins' schedule should be the New England Prep School Team Championships to be held on Saturday, May 15th, at a location to be announced.
