From Coach William Ewen:

Twelve players, led by team tri-captains David Goodrich, Lenny Kolstad, and Adam Sauerteig, accompanied coach William Ewen on a one week spring training trip to Hilton Head, SC, for the Hopkins boys' varsity tennis team. The warm weather, fair skies, and the opportunity to receive group professional tennis instruction from USPTA pro Clint van Aswegen, as well as to have the opportunity for 2 scrimmages, represented a welcome reprieve from the cold and damp winter that had persisted in Connecticut for months. Hopkins came away with a 5--2 victory against Beaufort High School and a 7--2 victory against Hilton Head Prep, and with renewed enthusiasm for our northern season that is to follow.

The team's varsity coaching staff this year has been bolstered by the addition of Greg Gull, former #1 singles player at Dickinson College two years ago, who will be working together with coach Ewen to bring out the best in the Hopkins team players. Last year coach Gull led the Hopkins junior varsity team to its first undefeated season ever. This year the Hopkins junior varsity team is being coached by Kyle Gardner.
