Over the last month, Hopkins has been honored to host an exciting exhibition in Keator Gallery, Eyes of Origin: Conservation Photographs from Africa, that highlights the beautiful photography and passionate activism of alumna Marie Wilkinson '82 and her husband Cyril Christo.

The exhibit includes black and white photography of the couples travels to Africa, where they traveled amongst native tribes and herds of elephants. Through their journey they have uncovered the disturbing truth of the ivory trade in Africa and its affect on the dwindling population of the mighty elephant. The duo have become avid and passionate activists to this harsh reality and use their artistic work to share the story and urgent need to save the elephants with the rest of the world.

Wilkinson and Christo visited Hopkins on Monday, October 14, and began the day speaking to our community about their work and mission at assembly. The couple are currently working on a documentary, Walking Thunder, to be released next year, and shared a trailer of the film. Later in the day, they were on hand to meet visitors and answer questions during two receptions in the gallery, one during lunch hour for students and another after school for the public.
