Earlier this month on August 3, 2013, a group of Hopkins students participated in the 26th Annual St. Vincent's SWIM Across the Sound. This annual swim marathon is a charitable, grass roots program run by St. Vincent's Medical Center Foundation, and supports cancer education and prevention to the under or uninsured, as well as aid to cancer patients.
The Hopkins student team dubbed themselves the "Hopkins Swimming Goats" and members included Gwyneth Maloy '17, Claire Bartosic '14, Kylie Stengel '13, Mollie Seidner '16, and Max Coffey '13.
Kylie Stengel was team captain for the Swimming Goats, and the group completed their swim in 8hrs and 35 minutes, coming in fourth in their category. Mollie's mom, Jodi Seidner said, "It was a very difficult swim this year, with 4-6 foot swells, 20 mph surface winds, and rain, but luckily no jellyfish. Many teams did not complete the race but the Hopkins Swimming Goats made every mile marker before the designated time and swam a great race. In total, the team raised over $6,000.
Congratulations to the Hopkins Swimming Goats on their impressive accomplishment this summer!
