On Friday, May 10th, Yale history professor Valerie Hansen, who is the mother of current student Bret Stepanek '15, and his older sisters Claire '11 and Lydia '08, came to visit the Chinese AP class and talked about the famous Chinese painting Along the River during the Qingming Festival by Zhang Zeduan. Here is a link to the painting on Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Along_the_River_During_the_Qingming_Festival
Professor Hansen conducted the class entirely in Chinese. Students had the opportunity to appreciate up close a copy of the painting scroll, ask questions, look for the suspense and understand the history behind the painting. Students enjoyed this great opportunity very much.
