Hopkins Officially Opens the Academic & Performing Arts Center

On Tuesday, January 21, 2025, Hopkins School officially opened the doors of its highly-anticipated Academic & Performing Arts Center (APAC). Now fully operational for the beginning of Term II, APAC includes 10 new classrooms, a 350-seat theater (including orchestra pit, set, and costume design studios), casual seating and gathering space, and a faculty workroom.

To mark this momentous occasion, the entire Hopkins community gathered for a morning assembly to acknowledge and celebrate the opening which was followed by self-guided tours that gave students, faculty, and staff their first look at all the building's offerings.

A special evening event was held on Saturday, January 25, in honor of all those who played a leadership role in bringing the APAC project to life. The evening's program included tours of the building, student performances, and remarks from Head of School Matt Glendinning, President of the Committee of Trustees Gwen Evans '84, and alums Joe Schwartz '57 HGS and Aaron Sack '89.

Construction on this building began on March 9, 2023 and transformed the existing Lovell Hall building into the state-of-the-art facility that stands today.
