Daily Schedule for 2022–2023 School Year

Dear Hopkins Families,

This letter is to inform you that Hopkins School has decided to return to the daily schedule that we operated under before anyone ever heard of COVID-19!  I have attached here a copy of the old/new daily schedule that students who have been here longer than two years will recognize, along with the block rotation schedule for Maroon and Grey Weeks.

As you can see from the attachments, the schedule will operate on a two week cycle - Maroon and Grey weeks - with each “block” meeting seven times for 55 minutes over the course of the two weeks.  The school day begins at 8:00 am and we are thrilled to resume all-school morning assemblies - our most essential community building experience - every Monday and Friday.  Adviser Groups will begin the day on Tuesdays and Thursdays and A block gets things started on Wednesdays at 8:00 am.

The academic portion of our school day is over at 3:30 pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, and ends at 1:30 pm on Wednesdays to accommodate our busy Wednesday afternoon athletic schedule.  Buses depart each school day at ten minutes after dismissal: 3:40 pm M,T,TH,F and 1:40 pm Wed.

Athletic practices and theatrical rehearsals run each weekday until 5:30 pm and our late buses depart campus at 5:50 pm.

Please also know that we keep Heath Commons and the Library open, safe, and supervised until 6pm for anyone who needs to wait for a ride home or who simply prefers to remain on campus to do their school work or socialize with friends in the late afternoon.  Operationally, the school day runs from 8am to 6pm and there are, of course, a great many games, meetings, and performances throughout the year that keep the campus open well into the evening hours.  To that end, I encourage you to keep a close eye on the online school calendar and @HOP throughout the year to keep up with everything happening at Hopkins!

I hope this comes as welcome news and information as it’s “back to the future” for the daily schedule for 2022-2023!

Respectfully,
John Roberts
