A visit from Beijing Jianhua Experimental High School

On Thursday, October 27, Hopkins was honored to welcome visitors from Beijing Jianhua Experimental High School, a K-12 independent school in the Haidian district of China. A delegation of 13 administrators and teachers spent the day learning about Hopkins School, observed classes, and engaged in conversation with Hopkins students, faculty, and administrators. The group had many questions about Hopkins’ long history and traditions, balancing work load and student life, our tradition of academic excellence, as well as the structure of governance, financial support and administration.

Hopkins faculty and students enjoyed the chance to share their experiences with their peers from across the globe. Our guests from Beijing shared their impressions of our school community and offered their experiences of education in China. Though on the surface there may be differences in schedule, logistics, class size, and approach, great teaching and learning looks the same everywhere! Through the exchange of culture, ideas, and experiences, we all benefited from a meaningful day. We hope to see our new friends again!
