This is that week in April where Mother Nature reminds us who decides when winter is over...The Goats traveled up to the bucolic pastures of Kent, CT to play the Kent School. Although the school is equipped with indoor courts, we were able to stage today's match on their beautifully re-surfaced outdoor courts, as the sun decided to stay out today, and the wind was mild in comparison to the gusts we've had of late.
Our entire squad performed very well today. Our work on doubles is paying off. Lucio and Alex looked really good together, as did teams Karun/Lucas and Jacob/Jake. Serves were on, volleys were lethal, and communication between players was effective.
We also saw great results in the singles lines. Jacob didn't let the sun or wind hamper his ability to hit overheads with power and precision in his march to victory. Lucio played flawlessly. Lucas clinched the victory for Hopkins with a solid overall game and smart strategy. Karun followed his serve into the net and hit many a crisp volley winner. Jake figured out how to stymie his opponent's unorthodox slice game to seize his first NE Singles win, and Alex played solid all-court tennis to get the W.
We had a good afternoon today and we look forward to our next match, which is tomorrow at Home vs. Rye. We hope to see you there and YEAH HOP!
Hopkins is a private middle school and high school for grades 7-12. Located on a campus overlooking New Haven, CT, the School takes pride in its intellectually curious students as well as its dedicated faculty and staff.
