The Girls Basketball Program at Hopkins is dedicated to mastering the fundamentals of the game while still competing at a high level. The program consists of girls from grades 7 through 12 playing at the Junior School (grades 7 and 8), Junior Varsity, and Varsity levels. The Varsity level competes in the Fairchester Athletic Association (FAA), as well as non-league games consisting of other NEPSAC schools.
The team travels to Northampton, MA to play in the Ray Brown Holiday Basketball Tournament hosted by Williston Northampton School. This is an overnight weekend-long trip that provides the girls with a great bonding experience as well as high pressure game experience.
Scott Nails joined the Girls Basketball program in 2022 as the Varsity Girls Head Coach. He previously coached at Rye Country Day and led his team to NYSAIS State Championships in 2015 and 2017. Coach Nails was also the recipient of the 2013-2014 Rudy Canelli Award for Girls Basketball Coach of the Year while at Foran High School. Additionally, he coaches two Elite 17U Girls Basketball teams for the Connecticut Basketball Club, is a JCC Schoolboy/Schoolgirl Classic Board Member, and a GameTime CT Girls Basketball voter.
