Hopkins Has a BIG Heart!

The 2024 Share the Love Collection Drive wrapped up at the end of February — and the teams collected a record number of hygiene items for neighbors in need.

In just two weeks, the Hopkins community collected and distributed thousands of essential items!

CONGRATULATIONS & THANK YOU to all of the student and parent captains for their work to make this year’s drive a record success!

Some fun facts & stats about this year’s drive:
- 64 bags collected, filled with thousands of hygiene items (LARGEST EVER!)
- 3rd consecutive year for this collection drive
- 6 teams organized by hygiene item
- 12 student team captains
- 8 parent team captains
- 13 parent and student volunteer item sorters
- 5 parent driver volunteers to deliver items to our partner organizations

7 partner organizations:
- Boys & Girls Club of Lower Naugatuck Valley (Naugatuck)
- The Center for Empowerment and Education (Danbury)
- Fellowship Place (New Haven)
- IRIS (Integrated Refugee & Immigrant Services) (New Haven)
- New Reach (New Haven)
- Operation Hope (Fairfield)
- St. Vincent DePaul of the Valley (Derby)

We also want to recognize a few individuals for their extraordinary commitment to this drive. Thank you to the wonderfully talented Ann Zipkin for (again!) donating her time and design talents to create the beautiful promotional materials — logo, posters, flyers, social graphics! A big thanks to Hilary Tanner for stepping in to learn all that she can about this drive so that it can continue for years to come! Thank you to HPA President Roopa Gottumukkala — for not just supporting the effort but also for rolling up her sleeves to help out with the drive. Thank you to English teacher, Director of Community Service, and Hopkins parent Alissa Davis for all of her help with rallying the student volunteers. And, last but certainly not least, we couldn’t have done this without Lauren Reichart, Hopkins’ Director of Development and Hopkins parent — Lauren connected the committee to the school, making sure every detail ran smoothly.

The Share the Love Collection Drive is organized by the Hopkins Parent Association Community Service Committee.
