Hopkins Students Shine in MathCounts Competition at Yale

This February, Hopkins School students had a standout performance at the MathCounts competition at Yale University.

In total, fourteen Hopkins students participated in the competition, scoring 10.51 points higher than the competition average. With thirteen school teams competing and 134 individuals participating, ten of the top thirty individuals in the tournament were Hopkins students.

Of the top twelve individuals who competed in the final countdown round, five were from Hopkins: Elaine Z. ’29, Jinghan L. ’30, Daniel J. ’30, Catherine P. ’30, and Rohin T. ’29. These five students placed 1st through 5th, securing the top five spots in the entire competition, with Elaine winning the championship round of the countdown.

Of the fourteen Hopkins students who participated in MathCounts, twelve will advance to compete at the state level on Saturday, March 1. The two who did not qualify still tied with the cutoff score.
